JOB TITLE: Project Manager

DEPARTMENT: Project Management

LOCATION: Shanghai, China

REPORTS TO: Project Director

 

JOB PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for profitability of individual E/P and EPC projects in China/North Asia, by ensuring that the appropriate cost and schedule controls are achieved.  Also, technical design review/analysis; preparation of highly qualified contract documents; planning/coordination with clients, contractors, subcontractors and other internal disciplines during project execution.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide initial client contact to verify scope of work definition for assigned projects and ensures that the executed contract documents accurately reflect that which was portrayed in the commercial quotation.  Appropriately and proactively manage any contractual issues which represent financial risk to the company.
  • Plan, organize and direct all design engineering, procurement, system installation, and commissioning activities for an assigned project.
  • Manage revenue, costs and gross margin against cost estimate for assigned projects, monitor project financial status and control project costs during execution to maintain profit margins.
  • Establish customer relationship at appropriate level and manage the expectations relative to scope, price and schedule, capture scope changes and effectively communicate this to the customer in a timely manner.
  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is completed per approved engineering design and material specs, project schedule, quality plan, budget, and safety and performance requirements as outlined and in compliance with contract documents, local regulations, and internal policies and procedures.   
  • Provide expertises relating to installation process, field design changes, troubleshooting, optimization, system functionality, and start-up and commissioning.  
  • Plan and justify expenditure of manpower, equipment, tools, and other appropriate resources for effective and timely execution of assigned project.
  • Maintain timely communications and harmonious relationships between internal disciplines so that project details, planned execution strategy and design revisions can be coordinated to minimize cost and delay throughout the various phases of each project.
  • Recognize changes in scope of work and coordinate the issuance of approved change orders with customer per contract terms and conditions.
  • Provide periodic and frequent project status and financial reporting for upper management.
  • Manage project documentation per company and client guidelines.
  • Mentor project engineers, site supervisors and other resources to improve their knowledge and skills relating to products, engineering and project management. 
  • Be a champion for safe work practices.
  • Support sales effort to develop new business opportunities with existing customers and potential clients. 

 

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Required:      

-University Degree (BS) preferably in electrical engineering with project management training

-15+ years experience in industrial/engineering/project management fields

-5+ years with management responsibility as a team leader.

-Good written and verbal English language skills

-Good command of computer software using - MS office( Word, Excel, Project, Power point..).

-Proven record of strong organizational and leadership skill

-Senior engineer certificate (China) owner is required.
