JOB TITLE: Construction Manager

DEPARTMENT: Project Management

LOCATION:  Shanghai, China   

REPORTS TO:  Project Director

JOB PRIMARY FUNCTION:

As the interface with client, to be responsible for site construction management in terms of safety, timeframe, quality, cost and HR by following Company site construction procedures and controlling site Company’s resources and subcontractors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for the management of project site construction from contract award to handover of commissioned plant to client.
2. Responsible for managing site safety with a target of zero accidents or injuries.
3. Manage site activities including planning, quality, inspection, testing and commissioning utilizing both direct labour and subcontractors. This will include the management of quality engineers, site supervisors and other resources.
4. Provide direct interface with client at site for on the spot resolution of technical, quality and planning issues.
5. Control site construction activities in terms of progress against plan, quality of installation, extra work, overtime authorization etc.
6. Compilation of daily reports for issue to client and upper management
7. Report weekly man hours expended and control budget for site works.
8. On behalf of project manager to deal with purchasing local materials, ordering trace heating materials, setting up site establishment etc as required up to a certain financial limit.
9. Liaise with project controls to feed back data on actual progress, costs etc.
10. Will be resident on site and feedback site learning experiences in order to improve future project performance.
11. Ensure site activities conform to Company construction procedures.
12. Prepare and ensure compliance with job site safety plan.
13. Carry out appraisal of subcontractor, and site supervisor performance
14. Prepare and ensure compliance with site specific quality plan.
15. Hold site meetings with client and subcontractors as required.

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Required:      

1. College/University Degree (BS) preferably in electrical engineering with project management training
2. 10+ years experience in industrial/engineering/project site construction management
3. Good written and verbal English language skills
4. Good command of computer software using - MS office ( Word, Excel, Project, Power point..),
5. Proven records of site construction management experience
6. Engineer certificate (China) owner is required.
